A. SCHEMEL. Treasurer MRS. INEZ WOLFE. Secretary May, 1959 To the Class of 1959, A.H.S.: Perhaps you will have a class reunion twenty-five years after your present milestone. I am confident that events will prove the lie inOrwell's book, 1984 and many of you will be around to vouch for it. Predictions are dangerous but the following are ventured for this planet, Earth, 1984. You yourself may have some influence on whether they prove to be true or false: -Your education after high school was far more important than you once thoughtg indeed, the process truly never stopped. -What you did for a living was far less significant than how you went about making it. -The known world, while much larger than in 1959, still had the same human per- sonality problems i.n 1984. -The spirit of God had never lost its significance to the human heart. -With all the wonderful expansion of science and machines, the human mind was still the most inspiring source of wonder in the world. -A man or woman could be truly great without being famous. -Your teacher was not truly appreciated until you yourself had taught someone. -To look forward with resolution was better than looking back with regret. By 1984 the answers to these questions will be written in your own twenty-five years of experience. Possibly, your greatest satisfaction will be to pass the test on to those who follow you. Sincerely, O. B. Laing S up erintendent 7
