April, in the year of our Lord Your classmate, Witnesses: . 4 4 ' _ . 3 j j) i .. 4. _ Class History of «1952« Twelve years ago this last September the class of 32 ' ’ atari upon ita adventure in education. Of a very large number 13 remain. They are Janet Ramsdellf Jerry Dhderwoodi Gordon n ok, Dennis Hughes, Eldon Rutledge, and Itlarlene Mushaw. Through the course of these twelve memorable years we have accumulated eleven more pupils. Evelyn Symonds, Verna Stanley,,and Richard Kindle joined us in the fourth gradej Karjorie Parker, Christina llartin., and Donna Harsh in the fifth gradei Robert Shaw in the sixth grades Louise Clapp and Richard Sneary in the eighth grade; and Charles Brov n in o ir freshman year. Our teachers during these years are as follows: Mrs KLbise Hall Hanson, Ifrs. Mary Ellis Beard, Mrs. Blanche Cummins, Miaa Os¬ bourne, llbcs. Ruby Carman Heckathorne, ¥t F.E. McGlaughlin, Mss Thuma, Mr. Dale Reichenbach .trs • Dickerson, I its . Ruth Spangler, ISr. Walter Spangler, Mrs. Hope Long, I,]rs. Helen D. Sherburn, irs. Dor- otha Kritzler, Ivlrs . Shirley Wissinger, I. r. Ivan Board, Mir. Richard Lowrie, llr George Muloy. I ro Evan Soash, principe l, and ISr. B.W. Cotterman, superintendent, The first six. of this journey was something new to us and we went about o ;r merry ray working, studying, and playing, and really preparing ourselves to enter into the (new) high school build¬ ing. During Vais period there were many events that took place, but the most outstanding were assemblies and a picnic the laat day of each year for the entire grade school. One of our most memorable events was that of our sixth-grade cammencementWe later found out that we were the last class to have sixth-grade exercises. There were 35 of us who graduated from elementary school that year, and we were s:o thrilled and excited to think that we were going into the New High School building. V hen we entered the seventh grade the next fall, it was all really different than we had expected; and sitting in class all day, with the exception of changing once in a while, and not having recesses was al¬ most more than wc could bear. I’m sure that we were all the upper¬ classmen and toachers could boar at tines, also. The eighth grade was not too much different frem the seventh except we had begun to cdiyt ourselves a little better, and all of a sudden the girls had u gun to curl «bcir hair and put on lipstick, and the boys o had always boon so sloppy began to comb and put water on their hair art even wash behind their ears. I wonder why? At last in our freshman year we were really in high sdhool and in stead of being so grown-up as we had expected, we found that wo wore merely lowly freshmen and hardly even noticed by our upper-classmen. That fall was an dxciting time for sesmo of the boys and girls who wore intorcstod in athletics. Ho had both boys and girls participating in the baseball baskotball, and choerlcading squads. Robert Shaw, John Strati on, Gordon. Holbrook, Jerry Underwood, and Richard Sneary made the basobrll squad; Gordon Holbrook, Jerry Underwood, Richard Sneary, and Rjchard Kunsickcr also made the reserve basketball squad; and Gir ' rXa Patton and Marlene Mushaw were chosen as cheerleaders. Our sophcmoTG year ttqs a little different from our freahman year in that seme of us 0001110 a little more conscious of our grades because that ms the year when our probationary honor society members wore to be chosen. Those selected were Louise Clapp, Marlene Mushau and Rich- ard Sneary. Vc started our junior year vrith much enthusiasm because there wero so many activities to T hich we were looking forward. 77e finally decid¬ ed about our class rings after some controversy, and then in March we all were very excited and working very hard to present our junior play in April entitled Mother Does the Talking On ' April 20, 1931 w© entertained the seniors and faculty with a prom at the Kenton Country Club. It was lovely and everyone had an enjoyable evening. And last but not least comes our senior year. V e all cam© back to school that first morning last September feeling just a little sad be¬ cause we all knew that it was to be our last first day of high school It was then that v;o realized the responsibilities we would have to under go as seniors. T7c had a very full schedule ahead that had to bo com¬ pleted. Just a short time after school had begun, we made an appoint¬ ment with Fr. Failor to have our senior pictures taken. On October 20, 19311 went to his studio and posed and primped and primped and posed nearly all day long. A3.1 of our pictures were very good. sooner was this finished than wo started working and practicing very hard for our senior play, Bachelor Bait, which was presented on November 2, 1931 Sometime late in January, the public speaking class thought it was about time they started wcjrking on thoix, play. After reading and considering two other plays, wo finally decided on Finders Creepers, a spooky, humorous, three-act play We had try-outs for about a week and when the cast was selected, wo worked and practiced very hard to present it on two nights, March 2? and IV ch 28, 1932. One of the most memorable events was that of tho prom sponsored by the junjor class with the seniors as honored guests. It was held on May 9 1932 , :n tho Elks Homo at Findlay, Ohio. It was a lovely prom and tho balcony was beautiful, Juniors. Tho very next evening, J iay 10, 1932 . WG seniors 7 oro invited as guests to the alumni banquet• Wo had a very enjoyable evening and it made us feel so much like alumni. And last but not least of these numerous senior events was our graduation on May 18, 1932, a time in our lives which wo shall never .fdrget. As wo sat on the stage and received our diplcmas, many events passed through our minds and caused us to wonder what each one of us, as a young person going out into the world, will do with his life. Wo knew wc would miss one another and that there would always bo a spark of interest and concern for those of tho class of 1932. Looking back at our school life, of which six wore spent in tho grades and six in high school, wo cannot got away from tho fact that it has been, to all of us, a groat source of blessings and rejoicings And while WQ have thus given a brief historical sketch of our school days, wo trust that the ending of those will bo the beginning of another life that will enable us to build upon the foundations laid while students of this schooZ. Your class historian, i Senior i ophecy 1932 It seems that only yesterday that we the graduating class of 1932 had decided to meet at the alumni banquet in 19 2 and I am so happy that all the members were able to attend. Upon our arrival wno should we see but liarjorie Parker Johnson now She and Jim were married after Marjorie graduated. They have a full tine job caring for their 230 acre farm and not mentioning their 3 chil¬ dren.
