N the hurry and worry of modern life there is one man who has time to cultivate ideals, and that man is Dean Main. Dean Main is a big man in body, mind and heart. You instinctively feel that he is above the trivial and the conventional, and it is even so. From his cloistered study and quiet meditation he brings to us a philosophy that is immediately applicable to the con- cerns of everyday life, and a faith that looks with assurance beyond the present and beholds afar off the consummation of human yearnings for the Infinite. The great justification for higher education is its applicability to everyday conditions. Is it not a sufficient tribute to say in the same breath that a man is a learned professor and a good neighbor, a Christian minister and a successful man of business? 9
