' ELLSVILLE EWS Celebrates 10th Year WELLSVILLE-A special dinner has been planned for Thursday, Nov. 18, to mark the 10th aniversary of the establish- ment of Alfred State College's School of Vocational Studies in Wellsville. Among the guests will be educators, members of the College Council, legislators and others who contributed in some way to the growth and develop- ment of the facility which offers post-secondary vocational in- struction. Dr. Huntington will serve as master of ceremonies at the dinner and will introduce several individuals who played a role in establishment of the Wellsville facility. Included in this group is Milo Van Hall of Canisteo, a retired dean who organized the com- mittee which studied the feasibility of undertaking the vocational training program and eventually recommended Wellsville as its site. The money raised in this year's marathon has a two-fold purpose. Tracy Martin and Coordinating Charities of Allegany County will receive part of the money. She and a few others donate their time and effort toward making life a little more bearable for the shut-ins senior citizens, and poorer people of our county. Holiday baskets are made and distributed throughout the year. UPP0 f9d PW Sffwkillg Food Service seniors win culinar awards WELLSVILLE-Seniors in the Food Service program at Alfred State College's School of Vocational Studies in Wellsville came away with 36 awards at the ninth annual International Culinary Arts Festival in Depew. The table prepared by seniors in the curriculum received 16 first place awards, 13 second prizes and seven third places. The total of 36 was among the highest of any .school entered. Heading the list nt' Wellsville School of Vocational Studies winners was James C. Braun of Buffalo who won the annual Courier Express award for best individual effort by a student. The Nov. 9 show at Hearthstone Manor in Depew was sponsored by the Buffalo Branch of the In- ternational Food Service Executives Association.
