The highest purpose is to impart knowledge, the ultimate achievement is to impart wisdom. To master both of these objectives is in itself a great accomplishment, but to be distinguished as a teacher of moral and intellectual integrity is an additional achievement which deserves due ad- miration. An outstanding teacher is one who willingly de- votes his time and energies for the welfare and benefit of his students. It is not the mere fact that he dedicates himself to the students, but that he does it with vigor and enthusiasm which penetrates the classroom. Besides inspiring each student to realize his full potential, he is eager to lend them assistance in every possible way. To us, this more than characterizes William W. Stopper. We are proud to dedicate this edition of the Statonian to William Stopper, who has repeatedly proved himself Worthy of such a recognition.
