uw bg Despite a record of 6 wins and 10 losses, the basketball team lost a good many close ones that could have gone to either team. Sparked by Skip liohe, Dave Morey, Ray Stamm, Jim 1-larkins, Bob Dean, and a strong second team, the Slate Tech team, with a few more breaks, could have had a close to undefeated record for the season. 91

Front Row: Balmas, Falk, LeBlanc, Gay. Back Row: Coach McMahon, Mucher, Warnock, Sharp, McMaster, Coach Thompson. WRESTLING The pride of Alfred this year was the mighty State Tech wrest- ling team. Undefeated during their first year of intercollegiate competition, the grapplers rolled over all opposition with ease. They beat such teams as R.I.T., St. Bonaventure, Oswego State, Erie Tech, Orange County and Farmingdale. Standout of the team was J ohn Le Blanc who won all seven of his matches by pins. Other unde- feated wrestlers were Walt Gay, Bob Falk, Ralph Mucher, and Carl McMasters. Rounding out the eight man squad were Pete Warnock, Dave Sharp, and Bar- ney Balmas. Much of the credit must go to Coach Charles Mc- Mahon, a former star wrestler with Alfred University. GHEERLEADING Cheering the basketball team on to victory were the peppy, hard-working cheerleaders of Al- fred State Tech. Under the guid- ance of Mrs. Schogoleff, the cheer- leading squad consisted of Alice Clements, Rhoda Young, Shirley Long, Kay Baldwin, and Lyn Johnson.
