STATONION The idea for an Ag-Tech yearbook was born in the latter part of the 1953 quarter. Jim Flana- gan and Frank Hammond, along with Professor Bouck joined forces to bring this idea into reality. Lou Lyman was appointed Editor-in-Chief, and shortly after, a contract was signed with the Wil- liam J. Keller yearbook Company of Buffalo. A staff was then appointed, with Bruce Hyatt as Literary Editor, Nancy Albee as Art Editor, Mary Rumbold as Activities Editor, Anne MacAlpine and JoAnn Wadsworth as Business Managers, and Bay Wood as Photographer. As the school year came to a close, the name Statonian was decided upon. By the time the 1953 Fall quarter had started, the Statonian had its own full time faculty ad- visor, Mr. James Leavy, a graduate of Syracuse University. As the yearbook work swung into high gear, two freshmen, Pat Trowbridge and Jerry Aroneseno were appointed Layout Editor, and Assistant Editor, respectively. Another freshman, Frank Sander, was appointed assistant photogra- pher. Mr. Grimm of Memory Studios, Hornell, was contracted to do the photographing of the First Row: K. T. Bauligg B. Greene. Second Row: C. F. Peck, R. M. Wood M A. Rumboldg J. Wadsworthg F. I. Spicer, P. Trowbridge. Third Row A Mac Alpineg B. Hyatt, L. Lymang N. Albee. seniors and faculty. On November 15 the first edi- tion had been met. The Statonian was prac- tically a reality. It is, therefore, with a feeling of pride that we, the Editors, present the first Statonian,, to the students of Alfred State Tech. We sincerely hope that its publication will continue for many years to come. ., fi- f x - I
