It was started to make possible a closer faculty-student relationship and also furnish a practical inter- change of knowledge in the F loriculture field. For education and entertainment, the club sponsors movies, speakers, parties, and picnics. RADIO CLUB The Alfred Radio Amateur's Club consists of active radio amateurs or persons interested in amateur radio, its betterment, and its advance- ment, and desiring to broaden our knowledge of, and further our mutual interest in amateur radio. Following this policy we hold classes in Inter- national Morse radiotelegraph code and F. C. C. regulations. The A. R. A. C. holds meetings at least once every two weeks. X First Row: R. F. The club has already taken a field trip to the Massey Harris farm machinery plant in Toron- to, Canada, and has had a stag picnic at the Sportsmen's Club, and a supper in Hornell. We also plan to have one or two more Held trips to Syracuse, and if possible, one to Harrisburg, Pa. Other social activities which will be held locally are a hay ride, ice skating, and bobsledding, speakers and films at meetings.

TOR ECHO The idea for a student newspaper was so im- pressed upon 'the students that in the spring of 1953, the student council elected Mary Fragomeni as Editor-in-Chief to start the ball rolling for a school newspaper. With a staff of twenty-five members, the Tor- Echo made its initial debut with its first edition being printed on September 23. The Tor-Echo is advised by James Leavy and is under the supervision of the Editorial Board which consists of four faculty members and four students. mfs, YQ? Wlieeler. The name Tor-Echo derives its name from the Latin word, Tor, which means high hills and, Echo, which is used in the direct sense of the word.
