CANTERBURY CLUB The Newman Club, affiliated with the National Newman Club Federation, is the Catholic stu- dents' organization on campus. Its purpose is to enrich the spiritual and temporal lives of the mem- bers through a program of religious, intellectual, cultural. and social activities. Club meetings are held every first Thursday of the month. Activities consist of lectures, Communion Breakfasts, panel discussions, dances and the issuing of a local news- paper. The Canterbury Club is a religious club primari- ly consisting of Episcopalian students from both campuses. They have a business meeting each month after Holy Communion. The Interfraternity Council is the governing board for the nine member fraternities of State Tech and Alfred University. They make and enforce rules for situations of common interest to the fraternities. Last Spring the Council set up a steering committee to help the new pledge fraternity, Kappa Sigma Kappa. This year the Council sponsored the Interfrater- nity Ball, with music supplied by Sauter-Finnegan and the Orchestra. INTER COUNCIL First Row: N. Morrell, D. Sehelkcrg II. Cosolitog Dr. M. J. After the split from the University last year, the two State Tech sororities joined forces and organ- ized a State Tech Intersorority Council. Com- posed of representatives from Pi Nu Epsilon and Alpha Beta Chi, its purpose is, to bring about a better understanding between the two sororities. Throughout the year, the Council makes the rules for pledging, takes part in the Intersorority Ball with the University, and sets dates for rush- ing parties for freshmen and senior girls. Astry: A. Williams, V. A. Ehresman. The recently organized honorary scholastic so- ciety of the Ag-Tech is known as Sigma Tau Epsi- lon. The members of the society consist of students who have shown the initiative to promote scholas- tic achievement, and the desire to help others to maintain high scholastic standards. This year the society has performed the judicial functions of the F rosh court, also, with a great deal of success. 4.-H The Varsity 4--H Club was formed in September, 1952, to further the interest in 41-H work on this campus. We formed judging teams which put on pro- grams for the 'councils of surrounding counties. Our activities for the year included a foreign student speaker, a county agent speaker, team trips, social hours and a booth at Fall Festival.
