Alpha Psi Omega held a Math-a-thon to benefit the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. On Friday, March 5, 1982, over 50 participants took the Math-a-thon test at the sixth period. The number of correct answers scored determined the amount of money collected from the persons who pledged money for each correct answer. Over $1000.00 was raised both in pledges and donations. On Saturday, May 1, 1982, the members of Alpha Psi Omega appeared on the St. Jude Telethon on WTOC. They were then honored at a function given by the Beta Sigma chapter of Epsilon Sigma Alpha International. Seven girls received ESA International Youth Awards for their outstanding con- tributions to their community, school, and fellow men. They were Jennie Ingram — chairman, Monica Sams — co-chairman, Lisa Sterling, Marcey Doloff, Donna Wilson, Monique Johnson, and Denise Baker.
