'S-' C Division C stands for Communications and C Division has all kinds of communicators: Radiomen, Signalmen, Personnelmen, Yeomen, Postal Clerks, Quar- termasters, and Hospital Corpsmen. If they are not sending out messages, dispatching mail, or logging it in, they are communicating directly with the crew on matters of both business and morale. In the Navy today a ship is known by its communica- tions as well as its observable deeds. Our ship handled thousands of messages and pounds of paper- work, tons of mail and special request chits while the ship was in WESTPAC. And just to be sure that we could keep on communicating, the Quartermas- e and the Corpsmen ters got us from here to ther kept us alive with pills, shots, and lots of sympath y. Someday the ship will run out of paper, and then where will C Division be? Back on the job as usual using old matchbook covers and bread wrappers to communicate. -.
