Remember the naps we had to take? When we were in fifth grade we had a picnic at Mrs. Payne’s house on field day. Then in sixth grade Mr. and Mrs. Deverell accompanied her class on a trip to Palmer’s Pond. Mrs. Mensinger’s class went to her house and had a picnic. When we reached Junior High it seemed wonderful to change classes although some of us were lost at first. In eighth grade we elected Luan Pres- ident of the Junior High Student Council. As freshmen we liked to consider ourselves rulers of the Junior High. We put on three one-act plays which were very successful. We were very proud of our members who par- ticipated in sports, cheerleading, chorus and band. We had a great time decorating for the Junior Prom. When we entered the school as sophomores we were thrilled to finally reach High School. It seemed wonderful to get numbers on our report cards. We could now attend the Senior Ball and we enjoyed it very much. At the beginning of our Junior year we received our class rings which we had ordered as sophomores. It seemed that many of us were eyeing the future a great deal more as juniors. We were very proud of Marjie and Luan who were elected to the National Honor Society. The campaign for Student Council President was very noisy, and the school was covered with signs. On Moving-up day Charles was elected President. Later in the year four more of our class members were admitted to the National Honor Society. They were: Sandra, Marjie, Theresa, and Charles. The Fair booth in the summer was very suc- cessful as we made $850. Terry and Charles were co-chairmen. Mrs. Coleman, Mrs. Thacher and Mrs. Dickens worked very hard as adult chairmen. Well, we were finally seniors. Homework seemed optional to us. It seemed strange get- ting measured for caps and gowns and plan- ning the Senior trip. We gloated after we defeated the juniors in the Magazine sale. We counted the assignments left in History. Our Senior play was successful. The time flew all too quickly. It seemed strange that we were leaving the place where we had spent thirteen years of our lives. No matter what career we launch, we will remember the good times we had at A.A.C.S. Our years at A.A.C.S. have been most happy ones. It is sad leaving, but we hope what we have learned will be the key to success in the future. 1959 24 UNDERCLASSMEN CLASS OF 1960 First Row: E. Art Ormsby and Jack Glover were runners up in the County Doubles. Dave Buchanan, one of the area’s top contenders, was in- jured in track the week before the Counties and Sectionals. He was therefore unable to compete in the Sectionals. Coach Hackett’s Hustlers could have hustled more briskly if they had had a tennis court for practices.
