rusaole asf e ra uatlon Under the shade of the .nlghty oak, near the entrance to ACHS forest, thxrty slx peasants gathered ln September 1948, to begm 'their great crusade to Castle Graduatlon Thls vast forest seemed unpenetrable' Realxzmg that rapld progress was lmpossxble wlthout capable leaders, Troy Dxllbeck was chosen chlef of our band wxth Ruby Anderson md Ann Johnson as assistants These three, under the capable supervlson of our guide Nlrs NICKIB, were to lead us safely through the strange new forest Cautlously we entered th1s dark and mvstenous Freshmanland, trem blxng at the thoughts of our f1rs't quest a drastlc lmtlatlon by the Lords and Ladles of the castle For nme long months we wandered thnough the bushes and trees of English, tang11ng often ln the sharp thorns of algebra Just before we left the haunts of the Freshman forest behlnd us, we Joyfully partook of the sprlng feast glven by the Vassals m honor of our safe passage Wlth vacatzon over, thlrty four Vassals started the dlfflcult task of steering our ACHS raft down Sophomore raver whleh ran between Freshmanland and Junlorland To man the boat, the followmg offlcers were chosen Shxrley Edelman,Sheryl Dyke mnn, 'ind Ruby Anderson The flrst rapxds were crossed as the Peasant Vassal foot ball team pulled through the season undefeated The Vassals also sponsored a fare well party for Irene Patterson, who left our fr1endly deck because of 111 health At the last falls and rapnds crossed the Vassals were host at 1 banquet served on the the challenges m the meadows of Junlorland Over the hllls and through the valleys of the meadow Junlorland, twenty elght Barons contmued thelr crusade toward the Castle Gradutxon, choosmg as our lead ers Margxe Lafferty, Barbara Swanson, and Margaret Jones Mr Clark was chosen to advlse us on obstacles md barrners encountered on our crusade toward hlgher goals Many actlvxtles were sponsored by the Barons, such as a skatmg party basketball throw at the fall tournaments, and a ch1l1 feast One of the many quests of the year successfully accomplxshed was the presentatlon of the play, The Dar Img Brats On May 12, much pomp and galety enthralled the land, as fthe decora tlons for the Jumor Semor prom turned the meadow mto a land of enchantment Now as Lords and L 1d1es, we gallantly rode on toward our destxnatlon To gulde us through the last quests of our great crusade we chose as leaders .hm Ol1n, Dan Gordon, Dave Powell and Ivan Ray wlth Nlr Clark as our advlsor By successfully staglng the play, Amazlng Gracle, the Lord and Ladles, showered wlth wreaths of pranse, accomphshed thelr flrst quest of the season March wlnds blew but stlll gaxety reigned supreme as the plateau was transformed mto a m1d way for the Semor Carmval Truly Kmghthood w is ln flower on the plateau May 24 when the l ords and Ladles, who were drawmg near to the end of thexr search for hlgh school educatxon were honored at a feast and dance by the Vassals On Hay 29 the Lords and Lathes entered the Castle Graduation' Now twenty four tralls lead mto the valleys and hllls Each offers a dxfferent goal each pre sents a new challenge to the crusaders With the courage of the Knlghts of old we salute the tomorrow 21 y A V A C To C I G A ' P n - s T 1 fr:- .
