This is the first time ever that ASH has won district with- out sharing the title with another team. Head coach Butch Stoker said that success was due to the drive and determination of the players and coaches to prepare more dur- ing the summer. They committed themselves to make it to the Superdome, and they worked hard for this goal. lt is easy to see how this prep- aration and determination paid off when some of the players' fan- tastic statistics during the regular year are recognized. Quarterback Mark .Iacobs totalled 114 comple- tions in passing which 2,094 yards with 21 passes. Wide Receiver Roberson ran a total of 887 ,-.. scored 5 touchdowns, and mac 88 receptions. Runningback She riod Jones rushed a total of 4' yards out of 99 attempts ar scored 2 touchdowns. Linebacls James Joiner led the team with sacs for a total of 66 yards. Fre safety Shane Ducote made I solo tackles with 3 interceptior Kicker Chris Boniol scored a tot of 40 points out of extra poir and field goals. Thus the Trojans proved wroi the pre-season prediction that i team could win district alan 1987 - The Year of the A' Trojans!
