4 H Symbolizing Trends of Life Two bean plants are sitting side by side on a table at the Rapides Parish Fair. One is large dark green healthy and his name is Harry. The other is small yellow sickly and his name is Sylvester. Harry was grown by a member of 4-H. The boy who grew Sylvester doesri t belong to 4-H. Poor Sylvester he he is a one ounce weakling. His beans taste bitter too. Harry is very proud. He has a blue ribbon on his stem. He won first place because he was the most handsome bean plant at the fair besides he is a four ounce muscle plant and his beans are delicious. Has anyone discovered why Harry is healthy and Sylves- ter is sickly? lt s easy! Harry was grown by a 4-H er. The members of 4-H know how to bring out the best in every- thing. The members of 4-H always have the best quilts cakes and carrots at the fair. Poor Sylvester maybe his son s owner will be a member of 4-H. didn't win a prize because he wasn't very handsome, and i iiii Aieovii oififici-fiiisi ' - r . , t .ttytt KQV: ?am.M8fhsws,...YlCQ:. FFA --Cultivdtingthe Future Have you ever wondered who it is that Bill Day addresses so early in the morning with his talk about rainfall, soybean prices, and pesti- cides? He's speaking to some early risers who make up a very important industry in central ' Louisiana - farming. Ask a Future Farmer of G America: there are a tremendous number of variables in agriculture and lots of facts to understand. The greater the running start a man has on his trade, the better off he'll be. lt's ASH's FFA members that will soon yawn before the radios of their pickups, watching the sun come up, ready to tackle the job of feeding the world. ri H TOP RlGHT: OF FlCERS: Front Row: George Tynes, Sentinel, Billy Murphy, Reporter, Greg Pharis, Vice-President. 2nd Row: Will Rabalais, Senti- nelg Dave Mailard, Secretary, Ricky McLaren, President. A Chcinge Through Love it Humphl someone might say as he checks out this photograph Fellowship of Christian Students eh? Well I don t see any haloes Or wings either And that someone is right However a member of FCS who is showing a keen interest in understandlng himself, has no intention of posing as an angel. By paying attention to spiritual and religious things and making them a part of his school life, he learns to live in a surprisingly satisfying way. A Chris- tian student may not be angelic, but he can help himself to become more fully human. ABOVE: Frontjlowzg Neil Barham, Patricia.
