From Recipes 'ro Tcipe Meosures A stitch in time. Who ate my cookies? Whether kids are wearing pinafores or cutoffs, whether women are cooking with wooden spoons or Cuisinarts, the world is always going to contain growing children and hungry men. Right? And someone must be able to take care of them! lt takes grace and wisdom to manage the morals, meals, and money of a family. Members of home econom- ics classes at ASH are developing that grace and wisdom so that, no matter how else the world changes, homes will remain the center of American life. Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Moe? From lf someone put you in a room with an Austrian peas- ant, a fruitmonger from Brazil, a Chinese ambassa- dor, and a doctor from Madagascar, and said, Unite these people! , what would you do? To get them on the same wavelength, turn on a stereo or show them a painting. To tones and colors they'll respond as one, for the arts join people as nothing else does. Thus ASH's fine arts department is a great asset to the school: through exciting individ- ual projects, it lends unity to a diverse student body. Another Mona Lisa? CLAUDE D. ANDREWS . . . Through a Work Study Program, the teachers in the Special Education Department help their students of today become productive adults of tomorrow. The students learn high school subjects along with work skills in their first year at ASH. During the second two years, the students go to work at a job in which they can use the skills that they have learned. Learn- ing to work with people is a vital part of the Work Study Program. The Special Education teachers at ASH bring this idea to all of their students and the students will carry it with them along the road to theirfutures. fa wr . W Alright, let's get to work!
