Sigma Beta Phi The Sigma Beta Phi is a honor society for Junior and Senior girls who are able to maintain a certain average, have a good personality, an unquestionable character, and enough points on outside activities. The officers for this year were Karlene Anderson, President; Bette Norgren, Vice-President; Maureen Collins, Secretary; and Mama Nelson, Treasurer. The Beta Club has Mrs. Dorothy Schwanke as its advisor. The object of this club is giving services to the community. They usually hold their meetings in the homes of the club members. By doing this it helps to stimulate interest among students in reading library books. This fall the club purchased a new supply of books, so there are always books of new interests. Key Club Anyone know whereto find the Key boys of Central High? You can find them in room 101 every Thursday at 1 o'clock. This is where they have their weekly meetings. They usually have guest speakers at these meetings. Key Club is a service organization of senior high boys, which is affiliated with the KiwanisClub. Membership into Key Club is based on leadership, responsibility and scholarship. The boys in this club are united together in a program to improve and serve the school and community. Its ideals are focused upon the needs of youth and to eliminate juvenile delinquency. The club sponsors the Have-a-Heart Fund Drive, Career Day, and the annual Key Club banquet. They collect the money from the gum ball machines in the local business places for sup- porting handicapped children. Representatives are sent to the National Key Club Convention each year. The Key Club officers are Jack Iverson, President; Charles McDonald, Vice-President; Dave Carlson, Secre- tary; and Bill Unumb, Treasurer. Their advisor is Rev. Robert Skeele. Membership is limited to varsity lettermcn. The officers for this year were President, Douglas Backhaus; Vice-President. Dennis Reynolds; Secretary, Jack Iverson; and Treasurer, Wendell Kjos. Mr. Connor is the faculty advisor. Among the activities of A Club are selling programs at football and basketball games, selling book covers, and sponsoring some after-game dances. Rooters Club The goal of Rooters Club is to promote and improve school spirit in the student body. They strive to keep the students good supporters of their team by making pep posters and selling pep promoters.
