The ALECKO ll Y ar T OLD DOMINION LITERARY SOCIETY HE OLD DOMINION LITERARY SOCIFTY in its third year of progress is making a con tmuecl and increasingly more stimulating appeal to students of the Alexandria High School who aspire to become accomplished in the fields of reading debating oratory and act ing The giving of readings and short plays before appreciative local audiences has proved extremely inspiring and beneficial to the members of the Society The members of the O D L S talce this opportunity to thank Mrs Ranow for her untiring efforts in their behalf The members of the Society deeply regret that other high school duties made it necessary for Mrs Ranow to give up her work as faculty sponsor of th, Old Dominion Literary Society, particularly because her personal interest in oratory and this Society The O D L S also takes this opportunity to welcome the new faculty sponsors MISS Appich and Miss Yates Capable oflicers were elected each semester The two presidents were Helen Tatsapaugh and Carroll May two vice presidents, Ellen Ridgly and Caroline Stanton and two secretary treasurers ean Bladen and Roberta Hoy Bernice Fedcler was Chairman of the Program Committee during the first semester and Helen Tatsapaugh during the second semester I the various programs many excellent debates readings one act plays, talks, and musical selections were rendered by the members Letters were thus earned by the more accomplished In bidding farewell to the Class of 31 the Old Dominion Literary Society urges those following to maintain the high standards set and carry the banner of the Old Dominion forward 62 a 1 1 ' debate was a paramount factor in the winning of district and state contests by members of s ' - ' ' ' s - , ,l - , , . n 9 1 ' . . , . . . .
