Class History What could be more exciting to seventy-two little green freshmen than to be upon the threshold of a new world? Now we had reached our long awaited dream of going to high school. We little freshmen. all but afraid. were looking forward to our first big year. There were too many of us to be put into one classroomg hence two homeroom groups were made and advised by Miss Eloise Davis and lVlr. Thggrags For our class officers, we elected Tommie Hunter and Allis WQBb.512I, Presidentsgz Max Guthrie and D,Q,LLLQ,u Vice Presidents: Jean Carolyn Cates and Wlallage Spipgg, Secretariesg Qale Cook and Deanna Coble. Treasurers. Then we settled down to work in order that we might be better able to cope with the problems which arose throughout the year. The second year was somewhat more promising for the fifty-three silly sophomores. who had become better acquainted with their new enviromnent. Again the class was divided into two groups. section one guided by Mrs. Robert Scott and section two advised by Mrs. S. C. Burke. Wallace Snipes and Ella Bae Justice served as Presi- dents of the respective classes. As juniors we felt rather important after we had been united into one big group with Mrs. S. C. Burke as our Advisor. We helped with the school annual, The Wilsoniarz and next we worked on the school paper, The Eagle? Ordering and receiving our class rings was a big event but so was the Junior-Senior Banquet with its theme of g'Harbor Lights. It is difficult to say which event thrilled us most. We do think it was a wonderful year and our President, Alvis Webster, capably led us. Finally the big year arrived-the year that we had been working forward to for so long. At last we are seniors and our goal in life is not so far off. Officers had to be elected and definite plans for the year had to be made. With Tommie Hunter as our Presidentg Bobby Dilks. Vice President: Jean Carolyn Cates. Secretaryg and Wallace Snipes, Treasurer, our class began its work. Elections for the annual staff were held and Delmar McAdams was chosen editor. Work immediately began on The Wilsonian. Later the newspaper staff was chosen and Robert Merritt was elected editor. Again the Junior-Senior Banquet rolled around, and another mile-post in our lives had been reached. Although our twelve years at Alexander Wilson have been short, we have had many happy experiences and made many friends that will be part of us forever. Nancy Webster H iszorian
