Vibrations of school life Students, friends, individuals, trying to make the best of these years. Working, growing, sharing, making things hap- pen. Peer pressure . . . the never ending struggle to be popular and to belong. Being part of a clique, and being frowned upon if you're not a part of the right clique . . . Knowing the importance of being an individual, standing up for what you believe, but still being accepted. Making current fads happen around school . . blue jeans [the more faded the better] flannel shirts, hooded sweaters, and platform shoes [for both sexes] Bringing such profound words into the slang vocabu- lary as waste, turkey, and jack . then giving them new meanings . such as these . . . waste . . . doesn't mean to use without profit. Turkey . . is no longer just the meat that is eaten at Thanksgiving. Jack . . . isn't just a boy's name. Cool . . doesn't refer to the temper- ature. Neat . . isn't something that is tidy. Rip-off . . isn't what just happened to the button on someone's shirt, and OF SCHOOL LIFE BIowpops . . What's a blowpop? Don't know . . Sounds awful . . . Must be pretty good, the juniors sure are selling a lot of them . . . Bright nail polish and lots of rings . . Playing Euchre' every spare moment. Of course there's that old reliable faction of school life that's last and least with most of us . . . Studying. Other important problems deserve first and foremost attention. What will I wear Friday night? How can I get past Mr. Henderson in lunch line? How can I skip class without getting caught? Laughter, tears, smiles, mixed emotions forever changing, vivacious, liv- ing . . . VIBRATIONS Vibrations 13
