GLADYS BLICKLE The yearbook staff of the Spartan Shield, with all sincerity, dedicates the 1968 edition to Mrs. Gladys Blickle, senior class advisor and art director. Mrs. Blickle has faithfully devoted her time and effort to the success of the Junior-Senior Proms. She has also provided the paraphenalia and posters used at the home and tournament ball games. In addition to her school activities, she runs a very efficient and educational art class. We appreciate Mrs. Blickle’s patience and assistance to all the students at Alexander High School. second from Alexander, were busy students from September through May. The 48 girls and 42 boys sponsored dances, produced a popular play, “Hip Hippy Hooray or They All Lived Hippily Ever After”, pre- sented the movie “She”, and struggled through final examinations. The class needed money for their last senior activity so they handled the concession stands during class “A” tournament play held at Alexander and decided to spend their finances on an all-night senior party. At the party, the graduates dined at 6:00 p.m., danced until midnight, ate again, watched a movie until 3:00 a.m., miracu- lously outlasted the rain during a hayride until 6:00 a.m., and finally tiredly breakfasted until 7:00 a.m. Throughout the year the seniors led the school in most organizations, athletic events, and proved themselves scholastically. Al- though the Hocking River nearly postponed their graduation, ceremonies went off as planned at 8:00 p.m., Sunday evening, May 26.
