Spirit at Aledo. It seemed almost too good to be true, but with a winning football team and energy unleashed, the school spirit came to life. There were signs and screams, and finally the pep rallies were not meetings of silence. anymore. Although the pep rallies were held bright and early at eight o'clock every Friday morning, everyone attended and the ex- citement was incredible. 'Born to Win' was our mot- to, and who could ever forget Curtis Hissam and the football teamis inspiring rendition of the Bearcat Chant? The varsity had an eight and two season, and the first eight games brought impressive wins. The senior boys even got involved at pep rallies by spell- ing Aledo and Bearcats out on the gym floor with their bodies. A Bearcat Trail sign was raised at the entrance to the high school to mark four territory'. Even the parents and friends got involved in the festivities. The Ballingers took an active role in pep rallies. They supplied us with the winning football from Cedar Hill and a Victory flag to raise on the flagpole. Mrs. Andrews, advanced art class stayed busy by painting everything with the Bearcat in- signia or colors. They painted 'Bearcat Pride' on all the trash cans, 'Home of the Bearcats' on the press box at the field, and a bearcat outside the team's locker room at the football field. Mrs. Dudek and the cheerleaders brought the spirit back to Aledo with locker signs, spirit poems, and an all out effort to restore the spirit we once had. That spirit was somehow recaptured this year and helped bring the fun back into football season. 1. Body Builders! S. Weekly, S. Everett, J. Henderson, C. Gilliland, and T.
