XXSSXXXKWXKXXXXXXXXSS XXXXXXXXXXXXWXXXXXXXXX34333-SSX Prophecjl fcontinuedp day lntroducmg me to the teachers students and Freshmen Among the teachers of Art were Dorothy Fetrle and Betty Erwm There were a few xery apt students among whom were Paul and Ruth Lastor son and daughter of Mr John Castor and Kath'een Morford Castor who are very wealthy and mfluentxal cltlzens of the clty of Reynolds Morrls Morrlson was another prlze student the son of Harold Mor rlson and Mrs Cleda Taylor Morrlson On the evemng of the thlrd day I left for Plttsburg and arrlved there the fol lowmg mornlng I went dlrettly to the Presldent of the U S Steel Corporatlon as 1 had some lmportant buslness to transact vnth hmm You can lmaglne my surprise at fmdmg Harry Smlth fllllng the Presldent s chair He took me mto confxden e and gave me the low down on the steel business of the present day He showed me over the plant and left me ln care of Valence Brown foreman of the labor forces Durlng my stay ln the clty I went slghtseemg and saw the massl e 1nst1tut1on that Dr Leslle Chester McCarty had erected for delmquents after he had made his mllllons on General Motors I was told that Loran Waugh was acting as Superlntendent of that lnstltutlon That evemng I went to the Nlght Club and was mildly surprised to note that Ted Stephens was on the program as a ventrlloqulst and was also a noted lmltator of small ammals He was very proflclent along that llne The other feature of the evenlng was Nettle Dellltt famous contralto soprano The next I met an old frlend of mme who mformed me among other thmgs that Margaret Haubrlch was ln the FIJI Islands where her husband was statloned as com mandlng offlcer He also told me that Rolland Lvons was a genlus at chess playlng and was at present tlme comnetmg wlth some German champions for the lnterna flonal tltle While We were chattlng a well dressed gentleman came over to us and mformed me that he was Dudley Wolfe and that he had just breezed lh to the clty to collect the mterest that Plttshurg owed him on a mortgage which he held on the clty Later IH the day I met L Chas Fender who was the Plttsburg representative of the Stutz Motor corporatlon He suggested that I run over to Indlanapohs where he was supervlslng some tests on some cars We went ln a new custom bullt sedan the upholstery of whlch was pale green to match Martha Peterson Fender's smart gown Upon arrival we vlewed cars deslgned by Fred Bahrmger whlch were bemg' tested by Domvan Pullen who has become a famous raclng drlver He has glven the company permlsslon to use hls name ln their advertlsmg lf the car comes up to hls speclflcatlons LaVerne Enstrom was the offlclal time keeper and some of the glrls who were teachmg ln the vlcmlty came un to see Don drlve He has remamed an attractlve bachelor Te kla Berglund and Ruth Perrin teach ln the Indxanapolls hlgh schools They are very fond of Domvan After the tests were concluded we went to Chlcago to attend the openmg of a new Roadhouse Leroy Egbert was the manager and hls wlfe whom you know as Lenore Hawks acted as hostess Homer Chandler was ln charge of the dlnlng room and made a wonderful head walter The nlace was ralded the nlght after we were the-re bv Detectlve Harry Brower and hls troupe of fearless offlcers of the law who had routed the Chlcago gunmen I learned that Lawerence McManus recently re sxgned as secretary of the Bureau of crueltv to msects and has taken up has Boron cal estate In Ireland County Tmerrary Thus nrovmce IS verv noteworthy havmg orlglnally been settled by the OTooles one of the rankmv famllles ln old Irlsh arls to racy He was accompamed by hls wlfe the former Dorothy Brownlee who has suffered from Lazymengetus for several years They have been travellng extenslvely fn hones of recoverlng her health The next dav I recelved a cablegram statlng that mv wlfe was serlously lll I de r-arfed lmmedxately for mv lsland home on the good shm U S Q Motxonless aboard wh' h I met Mr and Mrs W Duke McHard Mrs McHard was originally Mlss Evan gelme Gustafson of Aledo They were accompamed bv three of Mrs McHards charmmg school dav pals They were Miss Elizabeth Wllson noted for her famous lmpersonatlons of Madame Call!
