These husky Redsklns really got Hin the grooven this season by startlng with an l8 7 w1n over the Eldora Seconds The following week they kept up the pace by a 20 6 victory over Radcliffe Our grit seemed to ebb when we dld not pass the goal line at Jewell and the game ended scoreless In fact, our strength seemed on the down grade as we suffered two defeats the following week Scores Eldora Flrst Team 7 6, Dows 7 6 The Jewell team played a return game and this time we collect ed 7 points to their O Next on the Ackley grldiron, we came home with the short end of the score 39 6 The season, however, ended in glory when the Redskins, led by Captain Knowles and sparked by Russell Kreamer, defeated the Dows Tigers at the Homecoming game This final game ended the high school grid performances of Russell Kreamer and Harold Knowles in the back field, Harold Lawton and Irvin Klein in the line Perfect weather added to the success of the parade and flag raising ceremony which preceded the game Mldst much enthusiasm and cheerlng a record breaking, Armistlce day crowd saw the thrill packed game which spelled V I C T O R Y for Alden The flnal gun sounded with the score Alden 14 Dows Ol 28 Back Row: Sup't. In the early part of the season, the team lost Olsen, a sophomore, due to a knee injury, but this position was filled by Harms, the only junior on the team. The five remaining players: Catlin,Pinge1,0rpin,Skou, and Maury are all seniors and former letter winners. The county tournament went their way in the first round by a victory over Ackley, but the girls were nosed out by Owasa in the semi finals. The sectional tournament at Hampton also started with a bang and the team left Dows with the short end of the score. However, in the semi final round the girls were defeated by the strong Hansell State Champion Team. 50 .
