Manic Mon- day started the week and was followed by Tuesday's Support a Lady Cub Day. Everyone wore buttons to show his her support. Hat Day followed on Wednes- day, Next came Tropical Thursday followed by the traditional Blue and Gold Day on Friday. The Girls Basketball Team was defeated on Tues- day night by Wakonda during homecoming week. Thursday night, at the coronation, the curtains parted to reveal the stage beautifully decorated to depict the theme, Love is a Bridge . Master of Ceremonies, Aaron Johnson, announced the candidates and royal- ty. Julie Torkelson and Craig Treiber were crowned as the 1988 Homecoming King and Queen. Skits and songs were provided by the classes and some of the organi- zations to entertain the royalty, their court, and the crowd. Friday was the parade downtown. The Senior float carrying the candidates and royalty led the pa- rade, The cheerleaders and the band came next, fol- lowed by the remainder of the student body. First the parade marched to Morningside Manor where a king and queen were crowned from among the residents of the Manor, by the A.H.S. Homecoming king and queen. From there the parade continued downtown where the traditional pep rally was held. It was a tre- mendous success! The Senior class won the class cheer competition, and the Manor won the window display contest. Prior to the football game, the royalty and the candidates were introduced to the crowd. The band presented the half-time show. The football game was excellent! The 28-6 victory over Parker topped off the festivities. The Homecoming Dance was held at the high school gym after the game. The music was provid- ed by the Kg-95 Hit Men.
