All School Plays - What a Show

Page 14 text:

Rather than doing a single 3-act all-school play this year, it was decided to do three, separate, one-act plays. Mrs. Wensing was the director of this project. The first play was entitled Dream Walk , and dealt with how two teenagers were supporting one another in dealing with cancer, and with their difficul- ties in getting their families to talk about it. The lead roles were played by Nikki Larsen and Jeremy Solberg. The second play was entitled Five for Bad Luck . 10 It dealt with the irony of first impressions and the prob- lems of interpersonal relations. The lead roles were played by Craig Treiber and Kandy Kratochvil. The third play was entitled The Cop and the An- them . This play was a satirical comedy making fun of man's efforts to control his life and his destiny. Matt Newberg and Aaron Johnson portrayed the leading characters in this particular play.

r a d u a t i o n with faith in EACH other and the EXPERIENCES WE VE shared. With faith in each other and the experiences we've shared, we advance into our future building from what we have learned. This was the motto writ- ten by the graduating class of 1989, and was the theme for graduation. Thirty-two Seniors walked down the aisle in the Ele- mentary School gym and across to the podium to re- ceive their diplomas. Seven of this number had earned the privilege of wearing gold honor cords. The band provided the Pomp and Circumstance for the pro- cessional. Honor Guards were: Shane Wood, Darcie Webster, Mike Seivert, and Ginger Waddell. Pastor Charles Peterson gave the Invocation. After the audi- ence sang the hymn Take Thou My Hands and Lead Me , Gretchen Gubbrud gave her Salutatory Address entitled Footprints . Matt Newberg and Jolene Oster- kamp sang the song Friends , followed by Jeff Walz giving the Valedictory Address. The Senior Chorus en- tertained the crowd for the last time as a group by sing- ing the song Like An Eagle . Matt Newberg did some nostalgic reminiscing with Remember When . Shelley Feekes and Lisa Thompson talked about What Lies Ahead? . The Teacher of the Year award was given to Mrs. Pam Wensing. Mr. Joachim presented the grad- uating class to School Board President Jerry Kratochvil, who presented the graduating Seniors with their diplo- mas. Before the band played the recessional. Pastor Peterson gave the Benediction. 12
