Homecoming 1984 brought to us the theme “Almost Paradise”. The lights were low as accom- panist Kirsten Anderson began playing the theme. Attention was then drawn to the doorway as freshman attendants, Kate Buum escorted by Mike Embrock; sophomore attendants, Tricia Satter escorted by Doug Medema; and junior attendants, Tracy Nelson escorted by Rick Lundberg were an- nounced. Following the attendants were Andy Blauth and Sara Keiser, crown bearers. Flower girl was Tonya VanCamp and envelope bearer was Luke Johnson. The senior candidates were Tammi Sogn escorted by Carl Johnson, Tamra Tucker escorted by Carl Treiber, and Mary Weyen escorted by Mike Schumacher. M.C. Dwight Gubbrud announced that Tammi and Mike were the new King and Queen. They were then crowned by the 1983 King and Queen, Jill Abraham and Todd Wells. The crowd was then entertained as the classes and organizations performed a number of skits and solos. The traditional bonfire and pep rally were held after the coronation.
