Above, 1981 Homecoming Royalty-Row 1, L. to R.-Steven Crawford, Matthew Saugstad, Karri Sogn, Janelle Joachim; Row 2, Candi- dates Kevin Kroger, Grant Gubbrud, Rochelle Twedt, Shelley Hartman; King Kevin, Queen Robin; Freshmen, Carl Treiber, Tammi Sogn, Sophomores Todd Wells, Kathryn Treiber; Juniors, Shane McClara, Shayna Brady The lights dimmed and the audience hushed expectantly as the curtains slowly opened to reveal the stage, which was decorated to the theme, “Time”. The accompanist, Lisa Kleinhans, started softly playing the theme song, and the Master of Ceremonies Wayne Johnson announced the Homecoming Candidates and Attendants for 1981. After the underclass attendants, freshmen Tammi Sogn and Carl Treiber; sophomores Kathryn Treiber and Todd Wells; ju- niors Shayna Brady and Shane McClara were escorted in, the spotlight shone on Ken Keiser and Robin Embrock, who were followed by Grant Gubbrud and Rochelle Twedt, and last in line were Kevin Kroger and Shelley Hartman. Wayne opened the envelope containing the names of the new royal- ty. He then announced, “The Homecoming King and Queen for 1981 are Ken Keiser and Robin Embrock.” The King and Queen were then crowned and robed by last year’s King and Queen, Chris Embrock and Susan Heiman. The royalty and the audience were entertained by various skits and songs. After the coronation there was a traditional pep rally and bonfire. The following evening everyone enjoyed dancing to the music of “The Vandals”, after a victorious game with the Hurley Bulldogs. 6 Homecoming 1981
