1982 Royalty-L to R-Joan H., Rhonda N., Queen Rochelle T., Joanne L., and Shelley H. Tonight Show Hits Alcester In Full Force The curtain opened, and the crowd applauded the stage 0 decorated to the theme “End- Sweetheart 1982 less Love.” Melanie Ronning played the theme song as the Master of Ceremonies, Ken Keiser, then announced the candidates for Sweetheart Queen. Shelley Hartman, es- corted by Mark Newberg; Joan Hendricks, escorted by Jon Leafstedt; Rhonda Newberg, escorted by David Grage; and Rochelle Twedt, escorted by Wayne Johnson; walked up to the stage as flashbulbs popped all around them. Ken Keiser then announced, “The 1982 Sweetheart Queen is Rochelle Twedt.” Wayne Johnson, Stu- dent Body President, crowned Rochelle, and Tiffany Larson presented her with a box of can- dy. After a short speech by the new queen, the royalty and au- dience were entertained by Johnny Carson and his guests. A flute trio performing “Candle . on the Water”, a solo by Leisa Johnson, and a duet of the theme song by James Newberg and Tara Sonichsen also helped make the evening an enjoyable one. After the coronation, a dance was held with the music by Jon Michaels “Disco on Wheels”. At right-Center-C. Johnson and C. Tru- deau entertain the Queen. 10 At right-K. Kroger and S. Schumacher, G. Gubbrud, W. Johnson, Bentley St. Peter Student Council Moves Forward Under President Wayne Johnson’s guidance, the members of the Stu- dent Council strove to represent the thoughts and opinions of the Stu- dents at AHS. The Student Council held meet- ings throughout the year to plan ac- tivities and discuss problems. At Christmas, the Council provided a movie and candy bars for the stu- dents. In order to earn money, the group sponsored concession stand at home games. The Student Cuncil also encourages Students to make their opinions known to the Student government.
