As students part and go their own separate ways they will always remember their high school days and remember they were the class of ’76. We are trying to show you with this Cubette what the Spirit of 76 and our high school days meant ro us. Our class is proud to have the honor of being the graduating class of '76. The 76 Cubette has a different meaning to every person, but to all of us it means the wonderful memories of past high school days, all the fun times of sharing and special kinds of friendship we have with each other. Our class, the class of '76 hopes to continue to make the world a better place to live and grow and to carry on the Spirit of f76. “Freedom c rain’’ ZHomecoming ’’Freedom Train” was the appro- priate theme for Homecoming ac- tivities held on October 9th and 10th. The Homecoming candidates were Charmain Hagen and Vaughn Johnson, Nancy Kraakmo and Rick Hongslo, and Brenda Crawford and Mitch Kjose. Their freshman attendants were Sheryl Gabel and Todd Merrick; sophomores were Rhonda Ryken and Bryan Crawford; juniors were Mary Jane Anderson and Gene Johnson. Excitement swept the stage as the Mistress of Ceremonies, Sue Berg- dale announced our new King and Queen, Mitch Kjose and Brenda Craw- ford. They were crowned by last year’s King and Queen, Steve Farley and Debbie Moller. Skits and musical numbers amused the royalty and audience. Afterwards everyone gathered outside for the traditional burning ”A”. The ”A” burned throughout the pep rally as the band and cheerlead- ers led the crowd. The spirit of the crowd was high when the evening came to a close. The Aicester Cubs lost a very disappointing Homecoming football game to the Tri-Valley Mustangs by a close score of 8-7. The halftime entertainment had the bicentennial theme ’’America 1776” and consisted of formations and songs by the band and pom pom girls as the royalty and their attend- ants marched upon the field. Homecoming festivities came to an end with a dance after the game. Music was provided by the ’’Outer Limits.” A large crowd of students, alumni, and faculty danced to the music ending a very successful Homecoming 1975. Jahn Hultgren, Master of Ceremonies, opened the envelope (with some difficulty), and revealed Chairman Hagen as Alces- ter's 1976 Sweetheart Queen. Last year's Queen Kay (Hendricks) Winquist then crowned Charmain. Shari Erickson presented the Queen with a box of candy. The Student Body then put on skits and songs to entertain the Queen and her court. The Outer Limits provided music for the dance that followed. Through much hard work writing and editing stories, shifting pictures and meeting the various deadlines the 1976 Cubette staff hope they have made this Cubette a part of your cherished memo- ries. 19 dinesMace Changed Attending the FHA State Convention at Huron and the Regional meeting at Freeman, was just one of the many events attended by the FHA officers and members. Throughout the year the Future Homemakers of America held the annual Mother-Daughter Banquet, Daddy-Date Night, joint rollar-skating party with the FFA, and a White Elephant sale with the proceeds going to the scholarship fund. To go along with their theme the mem- bers studied styles and customs of the past and actually did discover that they have come a long way. Right Middle: FHA Officers, L. to R. , Lori Johnson-V. A delicious meal of chicken, ham, longjohn potatoes, corn and Rainbow sher- bet was served by the Village Bowl. The Program was opened by Evelynn Dunlap, Mistress of Ceremonies giving the Welcome and the acceptance was given by Doyle Barnes. Lori Johnson sang a solo as the Junior Class entertainment. The waiter and waitresses performed many amusing numbers to go along with the prom theme and the class history. prophecy and will were read. Cocoon played for the dance after the banquet from 9:00 till 12:00. After which the students drove up to Canton to see the movie Let’s Do It Again.” After a long, but enjoyable, night, everyone met back in Alcester for a breakfast of pan- cakes and sausages. The day was spent touring the Henry Doorly Zoo, Eppley Airfield, and witnessing a fire at McDonald's--but not before they got their food. The rest of the day was spent touring the Omaha Police Station, KETV Television, KOIL Radio, shopping at West Roads and attending a movie. Doyle Barnes was our class President; he along with Mr. Jerry Joachim advised the class. The major money making projects for the year was the Senior Class Play, Finders Creepers, which was directed by Mrs. Goldammer and Mr. Hall. As in the past, the senior pictures were taken by Tollingers, the seniors also took the ACT and Armed Services test. As the last half of the year came around, much time was spent making after graduation plans, trading senior pictures, and just realizing that they would be the last few months spent as the class of '76. Our class picture on the wall--the only material thing we left behind, but more than that we left our thoughts and ideas, the spirit of ’76; behind in the minds of others. So as we walk out the doors of this school for the last time, we leave with high hopes for the future and with hopes that not only our class but all future classes can carry on with pride the Spirit of '76. —
