1 ALCESTER SOUTH DAKOTA ALCESTER HIGH SCHOOL Remember the first day of school last fall when we greeted old friends and were assigned to new classes? There were the football games and the half-frozen cheer- ing section; Homecoming with the Icing and queen and the decorating of floats. With the approach of winter came the basketball sea- son. Tense with excitement we cheered our team on. In the midst of all this came the much anticipated Christmas vacation. In no time at all the second semester had begun and we could say that half of our school year was behind us. Then along came the basketball tournament, when teams played their best to win. All of a sudden it was spring. Junior-Senior Banquet committees were appointed and a theme was chosen. Stu- dents began preparing for final exams. At last the big day arrived. Summer vacation was fin- ally here. With all of the confusion and excitement behind we look back over a year we'll always remember. us I I I 7 3 I I I Superintendent W. B. Herbold B.S. - N.S.T.C. This year there are 14 graduating letter men. This loss will be felt in that there are only 5 return- ing lettermen for next year’s team. Charles Tiltrum, a junior, was voted by the team as most valuable player for the 1961 season, in that he broke two records, the most points and also the most touchdowns in one season. Dennis Stene and James Abrahamson were voted all-conference by the coaches of the conference schools. With the will to win and with the guid- ance and encouragement from Coach Smith, the team should have a success- ful season next year.
