ILUA Bi-.Alltlcih SGANZINI, prize speaker of the State of New Mexico and pride of the A. H. S., combines the sparkle of foreign blood with American culture polished to its best in the A. H. S. Ilda was born November l, l898, in San Francisco. She left this place early in life before she received any evil effects from it and went to Point Richmond. From there she went to Richmond. California, and in l909 came to Albuquerque. llda would die of grief if she ever received less than li in any of her studies. Ilda is very pleasant and is a jolly good companion. After a lyceum platform for possibly the Movies, Ilda will be professor of Latin in some prominent college. A well poised mind is llda's chief characteristic. De- bating Club, 'l 6: winner of local Declamatory Contest in 'l4. and state winner in 'l6: Staff, 'l5, 'l6: N. I. G. Club, 'l6. CH!-15'I'ER k'llARLk.5 BOLUI will never boldt a class for his partyl. He is not a quitter. Chester first made the acquaintance of his parents in West Point, Nebraska, May 29, 1899. So that he might be prepared to graduate with us, he came to Albuquerque in l902 and has since been known as Chet, Chet is self- reliant and dependable. He likes the girls, QU adores his pompadour, and likes to dance. Chet is always sure of what he says and sticks to it, no matter who dis- pules him. l-le has not selected the line of work he will take up, but would shine in the role of either a Dancing Master or a Parson, perhaps. ALMA KATHERINE FRIEDE, and the celebrated Tolstoi, were born in Russia. Alma was born january IZ, 1899. Like her fellow countryman, she has a great love for nature, but instead of loving all humanity, Alma's love is for one particular Mann. Alma is quiet, but is very jolly when she engages in conversation. She is easily embarrassed and doesn't like to be teased. She will be a stenographer to the next President of the United States, perhaps William Jennings Bryan. Chorus. 'l5, 'l6: Basketball, 'l5. 'l6: Senior Play, 'l6. Zl

jAMt.5 BAIRU HERNDUN ls not an Indian although lie was born in Lomanchc. lexas. 'lihe date ol this event was November Z, l898, james is known as HJ. B. in society cliques where he shines as a star of the first magnitude. Though small in stature, Bfs extra large head has more stored in it than have many folk of greater physical proportions, B. is jolly, inclined to be a little mischievous. and is a good sport. He will undertake almost anything. At times B. looks very serious but suddenly changes his expression when the teacher isn't looking. Though a gent eral favorite with the girls, J. B. prefers one blushing little Freshman. CYou. dear reader, must not embarass him by repeating that you read this last statement., His ambition is to be a globe trotter, but prior to this desire he will be Comptroller of finances at Washington. Vice-president ol Debating Clubg Class Treasurer, '16, LILLIAN MAY Kb1MPte.Nlt'H confesses that she was born near Albuquerque, but the exact place could not be ascertained. ilihe date was May 9, l898. KN. B.--Refer to this date, dear reader, if Lillian is unmarried ten years hencej Lillian is never a piker and her lessons seem always ready made for recitations. She is a hearty laugher and will smile at the slightest provocation. Though Lillian was evidently fashioned to be loved and practice domestic art, she will devote herself to stenography. It is a safe bet, however, that a vine-covered cottage will be more at- tractive to Lillian than a business house. HIRAM JOHN HENRY Humergwnorr' is often called Herky for short, but with rare amiability will respond to almost any name. Herky left his birthplace. Austin. Illinois. soon after his birth, June 7, I897. He made the mistake of stop- ping for short intervals in Michigan and at Chicago, and'Melrose Park, Illinois, before coming to the Land of Sunshine. But Herky has taken his whole High School course at A. H. S. and has forged forward by the leaps and bounds which his long legs and long head made possible. He is a leader of the student body. energetic, somewhat bossy, possesses an impressive voice, handsome face and is an ardent admirer of--? Herky is proud of his name, judging by the way he writes it. His future will be that of platform orator. or his business ability may place him at the head of the Carnegie Steel Works. Secretary of Class, 'l4: President of Class.
