Hl.Rtsi4.Rl ANDREW HICKEY, an Albuquerque youth, studious, determined and steady. The A of his middle name rightfully stands for ambition. He is a chemistry shark and will follow this profession Knot that of a shark, but of Chem- istryl. Boston Technical Institute will be the theatre of his endeavors after com- mencement, and as a chemical engineer his career will doubtless be filled with such adventures as blowing up tht- earth or hitching it to Mars. Ever since an important date, january IS, I899, the chief hobby of this husky youngster has been falling down stairs. When there are no stairs handy he indulges his penchant for falling by letting wrathy burros buck him over fences. Debating Club, 'I5g Yell Leader, '16, Indoor Track, 'l6: Track, 'l5. ILYALYNE LONG is a representative of the Lone Star state and a distinct type of the vivacious gentlewoman of the South. She was born in Greenville, Texas, Oc- tober Zl, I898, but was schooled in Virginia and Washington, D. C., before com- ing to A. H. S. in IQI4. Ex'alyne's character, culture, and good nature have won a place ol high esteem in the High School. In debate, or at the football field, cheer- ing for the Yellow and Nvhitef' or at a girls' stag party, she is always leader. Her histrionic talents were demonstrated in the class play, Esmeralda, when she played the leading role with ability and charm. Evalyne's chief talent, however, is writing, and as a journalist, she will win fame for the 1916 class. Basketball, 'I 5: Debatng Club. 'I5: Staff, 'l6: Class Play, 'I6: Declamatory Contest, 'I4: Clee Club, 'I5. ANTONIO GILBLQRTO ESPINOSA, despite his distinguished ancestry, is known as Espy and Gibbs in A. H. S. circles. This intellectual star and jokesmith was first discovered on earth at Del Norte, Colorado, in I898, Fortunately for us he moved to Albuquerque in I904 and the schools have been improving ever since. He likes the girls, likes to dance, and likes himself. Espy is an accomplished im- personator, As the French Baron in the class play a decided hir was made with the audience. Gibbs will challenge the van and front of fate at civil engineering when he is through teaching Spanish and leading activities in A. H, S, Track, 'I4, 'I5p Staff. 'I6: Indoor Track, '14, 'I5, 'l6. HORTENSE Vioi.ET SWITZER, the nightingale of the High School, is a damsel of grace and beauty who gives promise in voice of a prima donna who will some day demand wide recognition. This sweet singer sang her first notes in Albuquerque, June l, l898, and this choice spot of the Southwest has been her home ever since. Her happy temperament wins warm friendships and echoes in her music. A leader in the High School, a favorite in society, and captain of the basketball team, Hor- tense is in every sphere at her best. As the ambitious mother of Esmeralda in the Class play she was a great success. Everybody loves H. V. S. of the A. H. S. Baskezball, 'l 5, 'l6: Glee Club, 'l 3, 'l4, 'l 5. 'l6: Vice-President of Class, 'l6g Staff. 'l 5. WALTER NELSON PARKHURST is a son of the Golden West , born in Albuqutrque, February 2, l898. In early childhood, he went to the Effete East and attended the Friends School in Brooklyn, N. Y. But he couldn't endure life long away from Albuquerque, and came back this year to finish his course in A. H. S. Walter is known as Pawky and Piecrust. He is an athlete, has a han- kering for girls, and possesses a genial disposition. One of the seven wonders of the High School is Pockie's marvellous pomjzadour. He is cunning and amusing when he doesn't know it. He will in the fu'ure lie head of the Equitable Life of N. Y. since his ambition is to be comptroller of a life insurance company. Basket- ball. 'l6. HAZEL MARCUERITE KIEKE, a dimpled blonde beauty, chose Albuquerque as her birthplace, June l4, l897. She has had the good sense to remain and be educated here. Hazel's genial manner and good looks are the pride of many. Her name is a synonym for popularity, Her hobby is one-stepping. Her record is. good in class room and at five hundred parties. Hazel is one who does not need to wait for leap year. If she enjoys single blessedness for long it will be her own fault. Her ambition is to globe trot. Clee Club, 'l 3, 'l4: Basketball. 'l 3. I8

Though small in stature, Bfs extra large head has more stored in it than have many folk of greater physical proportions, B. is jolly, inclined to be a little mischievous. and is a good sport. He will undertake almost anything. At times B. looks very serious but suddenly changes his expression when the teacher isn't looking. Though a gent eral favorite with the girls, J. B. prefers one blushing little Freshman. CYou. dear reader, must not embarass him by repeating that you read this last statement., His ambition is to be a globe trotter, but prior to this desire he will be Comptroller of finances at Washington. KN. B.--Refer to this date, dear reader, if Lillian is unmarried ten years hencej Lillian is never a piker and her lessons seem always ready made for recitations. She is a hearty laugher and will smile at the slightest provocation. Though Lillian was evidently fashioned to be loved and practice domestic art, she will devote herself to stenography. It is a safe bet, however, that a vine-covered cottage will be more at- tractive to Lillian than a business house. HIRAM JOHN HENRY Humergwnorr' is often called Herky for short, but with rare amiability will respond to almost any name. Herky left his birthplace. Austin. Illinois. soon after his birth, June 7, I897. He made the mistake of stop- ping for short intervals in Michigan and at Chicago, and'Melrose Park, Illinois, before coming to the Land of Sunshine. But Herky has taken his whole High School course at A. H. S. and has forged forward by the leaps and bounds which his long legs and long head made possible. He is a leader of the student body. energetic, somewhat bossy, possesses an impressive voice, handsome face and is an ardent admirer of--? Herky is proud of his name, judging by the way he writes it.
