MYRTLE RENDELL is another sunny representative of the Sunflower State. She was born in Carbondale, Kansas., April I5, l898. Her early schooling was taken at this place. The forepart of this school year she iourneyed to Phoenix. Arizona, but she soon retraced her way to Albuquerque. and to our great fortune, she joined our ranks. Myrtle is studious and possesses a merry disposition, which makes her a favorite. She will enroll in the U. N. M. next year to prepare herself for the career few sweet girl graduates can escape fteaching. of coursel. THOMAS VINCICNT CNALKINS, the grand exalted head of the celebrated class of I9I6, is an original product of Kansas but has benefited by the choice advan- tages of Albuquerque and vicinity since I907, when he settled with his parents at Barton, near Albuquerque. 'liom is made of the stuff that makes leaders. The name of his friends is Legion, I-le is a booster in all school activities. A tenor voice, and a classic pompadour make him a social favorite. His chestnut hair shows off best on the football field. Of course Tom is an all 'round athlete and often takes a little stroll of thirty-two miles to his home in Barton. A winner of first honor in the local oratorical contest in I9l 5 and always a ready extemporaneous speaker. Tom is training for ministerial service. Flora is very digni- fied and graceful and is never known to cause a disturbance. Basketball, 'I 5. FRANCIS OTIS WOOD, called Oats for short. is from the Empire State, born July 3I, I899. Oats is the class baby in point of years, but the class giant in stature with a brain to match his brawn and a voice like thunder. He will make a magnificent pleader at the bar for with such imposing stage presence, commanding voice and stern logic, he will be a winner. He has been schooled in Albuquerque since l905 except two years when he honored the colleges of St. lVlary's, Kansas, and Notre Dame with his enrollment. But with the wisdom that distinguishes this class of A. H. S., Oats returned to receive his diploma here. Unfailing good nature and original wit have and always will make him popular.
