These music lovers will soon be filling the places lelt by the graduates and will in every way be striving to be Senior Band members. DANCE BAND Listen to those haunting melodies, those pep tunes, and smooth jazz floating out from A. C. S. every hilonday night? Did you hear it at the Pig- skin llop, and the Spring dances? Yes, it's the Dance Band. Few can resist the tempting piano melodies of Keith Downey, the solid rhythm ol' .lack Claze's drums, the lilting sax music ol' 'loc Sacco, Don Steele, Dave Wrilfe, and Mare vin Sayles or the hrass music of Ken Wlmitiiig and Don -loslyn ol' trombones and Mr. Sherman, Dyck Poland, Bob lloot, and Tom Cracldock on trumpets. CLEE CLUB With a last mad scramble for seats as Mrs. Trumble played a warning chord on the piano, another glee club rehearsal began. This year's ACS glee club has a total of 115 members who have undertaken some pretty big projects this year. First on the agenda came All-State, the annual music festival held for the first time this year in Albion. Six members of the glee club took part in the actual festival, with the other members helping as guides or finding homes for those who attended and could not commute. The festival was a great success and was well worth the work. Next came the Christmas Choir. The annual program was presented both at the Christmas PTA meeting, and before the student body on December 19th. Finally on the list of big projects came the operetta. This year the title was Erminie , a gay combination of romance, mystery, and humor set in France in the Clays of lords and ladies, counts and rogues. The cast consisted of Ann Finney as Erminie, joe Sacco as her father, the Marquis, Karl Klingenberger and John Penasack as the villains, Mae Saeva as the beautiful maiden Javotte and Don Steele as the captain of the guards. The supporting players included Joyce Coloney, Dan Cotovi, Bob Hoot, Connie Bell and Mary Jackson. Of course we'll never forget Richard Anderson's portrayal of the mistreated Ernest and Losh as the Chevalier. The chorus of maids and soldiers were all members of the Clee Club. Erminie', climaxed the year for the ACS glee club. It was surely one of the most succsessful we have ever had. CHRISTMAS CHOIR A hush fell over the student filled auditorium. The stage curtains parted, and there, on the candle-lit stage, robed in choir gowns was the chorus of 41 A. C. S. students. This year's Christmas Choir presented its annual program on December 19th. Mrs. Trumble, who directed the choir, did a tremendous job of managing the large group. The numbers sung included The Christ Child , Wonc1rous Night , Theres a Song in the Air , and A11e1uia . Soloists were Ann Finney, who sang Cantique de Noel , Joe Sacco, who sang And There Were Shepherds , and Mae Saeva, who did a very effective version of the Olive Treev from the balcony. The stage setting was unusually good this year as Miss Sundell's stained glass window was used as a lighted back drop for the grand piano and the large Candelabra. The Choir's long, hard work at rehearsals put forth a program well worth hearing. Its message set the right mood for the coming Christmas vacation.
