The members are sixth, seventh, and eighth graders who are hard working music students. These boys and girls participate in the an' nual Spring Concert. adding much enjoyment to the program. These music lovers will soon be filling the places lelt by the graduates and will in every way be striving to be Senior Band members. DANCE BAND Listen to those haunting melodies, those pep tunes, and smooth jazz floating out from A. C. S. every hilonday night? Did you hear it at the Pig- skin llop, and the Spring dances? Yes, it's the Dance Band. Few can resist the tempting piano melodies of Keith Downey, the solid rhythm ol' .lack Claze's drums, the lilting sax music ol' 'loc Sacco, Don Steele, Dave Wrilfe, and Mare vin Sayles or the hrass music of Ken Wlmitiiig and Don -loslyn ol' trombones and Mr. Sherman, Dyck Poland, Bob lloot, and Tom Cracldock on trumpets. Their smooth renditions of current and recent pop tunes are applauded by all. Shall we dance? 27

Hatch BAND On the Move seems to have been the watchvvord of the Albion Central School Band this year. At the opening of school in the fall, some fifty-six members re- ported for the senior band. Some were chosen to play in the Pep Band and others in the Dance Band. Under the raised baton of lVlr. Sherman and talents of its officers, President Don joslyn, Vice-President Ronnie Harling, Secretary-Treasurer loc Sacco, and Librarians, Daisv Baker and Sharon Hubbell, the band has won both fame and renown. The band is not characterized by any distinctive style but it likes to mix things up, throwing in an occasional modern arrangement for a change of pace. The sixteen-piece Pep Band played at the Cake Walk during the half-time of the big Albion vs. Medina basketball game. The Dance Band, with the help of the Chevron Staff, initiated a series of school day dances each Friday noon through March and April. The Chevron and Band also sponsored a dance, The Pigskin Hop, to raise funds to purchase uniforms for the fourteen new members. ln addition there were Assembly programs, the Spring Concert, Mtisic Festivals, and the Memorial Day and l:iremen's Parades. Next year's band will have to step to surpass the music heard at Albion Central this year.
