IUNIOR RED CROSS Fifty-seven dollars and forty-four eentslu proudly exclaim chairman, Margot McKenna, secretary, Geraldine Kettle, and Miss Diluaura, their advisor. Albion Central again contributed gladly to the annual Red Cross Drive as it got under way. The next good deed was to play Santa to the Batavia Veterans. These junior Red Cross members made Christmas decorations, wrapped gifts, provided for enter- tainment, and helped with refreshments in a Christmas party for the veterans. Need- less to say. they enjoyed themselves as much while doing this as the veterans enjoyed their gifts. Another project, also at Christmas, was to wrap twenty gifts for soldiers and sailors spending Christmas at sea. Now our junior Red Cross is again planning to help others. They are going to send gifts of health and educational value to children overseas. Left to right: P. Froser, K. Brusf, l. Crowshow, M. Hill lst Row: J. RoTh,J Reed 2nd Row: R. Greenlee, P. The students had this in mind when they elected lklarcia Hicks President of the Student Council. Other officers are Ronnie llarling, Vice-President, Ioan Bates, Recording Secretary, lVlary jackson, Corresponding Secretary, and Ceraldine Kettle, Treasurer. Mr. Anderson and lXlr. llill acted as advisors. The students started the football season off wearing sporty pins sold by thc Student Council. At Christmas Time, SC stood for Santa Claus and we sold memo boards. This year marked the beginning of the Orleans County Council ol' Student Associations, in which our President served as Secretary. This council was not only a success socially, but also our officers put their Iohn Hancock on its constitution. As we go to press, definite plans are being made for the Monitor System which will give the students a chance to use discipline among themselves and the Publicity Committee and Traffic and Safety Council are planning a Safety Week. As the second girl president of the Student Council, Marcia has proved that the weaker sex is very capable of carrying out executive duties. 24

Hatch BAND On the Move seems to have been the watchvvord of the Albion Central School Band this year. At the opening of school in the fall, some fifty-six members re- ported for the senior band. Some were chosen to play in the Pep Band and others in the Dance Band. Under the raised baton of lVlr. Sherman and talents of its officers, President Don joslyn, Vice-President Ronnie Harling, Secretary-Treasurer loc Sacco, and Librarians, Daisv Baker and Sharon Hubbell, the band has won both fame and renown. The band is not characterized by any distinctive style but it likes to mix things up, throwing in an occasional modern arrangement for a change of pace. The sixteen-piece Pep Band played at the Cake Walk during the half-time of the big Albion vs. Medina basketball game. The Dance Band, with the help of the Chevron Staff, initiated a series of school day dances each Friday noon through March and April. The Chevron and Band also sponsored a dance, The Pigskin Hop, to raise funds to purchase uniforms for the fourteen new members. ln addition there were Assembly programs, the Spring Concert, Mtisic Festivals, and the Memorial Day and l:iremen's Parades. Next year's band will have to step to surpass the music heard at Albion Central this year.
