Cl. SIXTH GRADE Early in the fall of last year, Mrs. Sanford's sixth grade began their activities by studying the solar system. The boys and girls made scale models of the planets out of paper mache, which were displayed in the classroom. At Christmas time they did a very effective version of The Littlest Angel . Those who saw it were overcome by its warmth and feeling. Other activities were a Christmas party, a radio play, Valentines party, and a square dance. Mrs. Willey's pupils began their activities for the year by participating in an assembly on the United Nations. After completing their course on the Middle Ages, they drew a poster of life in the Middle Ages. At Christmas time, scenes were drawn on the boards and a Christmas party planned. The Crusades were drawn up on a poster by Mr. loy's class. SEVENTH GRADE Mr. Biordi's class began the seventh grade activities by studying early Indian life and drawing a poster depicting the life and ways of the Indians. Their next group project was on immigrants in New York State and New York City. They finished the school year with a study of the physical geography of New York and drawing contour maps of New York State. Mr. Sanford's class got right into the swing of things by drawing posters de- picting the various stages of the War of 1812, and World Wars I and II. They gave speeches in the auditorium to entertain the sixth grade pupils. Mrs. Sprague's class and Miss I-Iazel's had fewer activities during the school yearg however, both classes drew Christmas scenes of their own ideas on the boards. Each of the seventh grade classes held a Christmas party which the students themselves planned and carried out. EIGHTH GRADE Early in November, Miss Billin s' social studies classes started the eighth grade activities rolling by electing nine delegates to attend an exhibit on the Erie Canal at the Memorial Art Gallery in Rochester. They were taken on a surprise tour of the exhibit on the Erie Canal. Miss Hogan's math classes worked out some very beautiful geometric designs in color which they displayed in room 211. In the early part of December, some of Miss Clare's English classes completed small notebooks on Dickens' novel A CHRISTMAS CAROL. These booklets, with their beautiful hard covers, which included character sketches and time changes of the novel, were exhibited in class. Finally, on February nineteenth, to top off an already full year, the eighth grade got together and attended a skating party at the roller rink in Medina. Erie Canal, Charles Dickens, geometry and roller skates - it's a busy life for the 8th grade.
