Hance Warren hlighstone Advisor An honorary co-educational journalistic fraternity, Alpha Phi Gamma requires that members maintain a high scholarship record and serve in one of the responsible editing or business positions on the Albionian or Pleiad for a minimum of a year. After election members continue to serve on the publications. The organization, reorganized here in 1939 with five members, has as its purpose, the desire to recognize individual achievement and ability in journalistic pursuits in Colleges and universities, to serve and promote the vv elfare of the college through journalism, to establish cordial relationships between the students and members of the profession and to unite in a fraternal way, congenial students interested in journalism. Peters Delta Sigma Rho, oldest of the national forensic honor societies, was founded on this campus in 1911, five years after the notional organization was founded. There are now seventy chapters of this fraternity throughout the United States. A student, to become a member, must hove junior stonding,- must participate for three years in varsity debate,- and must be in one intercollegiate and at least two local oratorical contests.
