History of the Clloiss of 936 UR FOUR LONG years of hardships, jovs and sorrows are about over. The class '36 will soon be a thing of the past. we will soon pass through the doors of Albia High, some of us never to return again. As wc now leak baclc on our four years of fruitful toil, many emotions assail us. We will lay away our books to take up the wheel of life with a feeling of regret, 11015 that we have failed, not that we fear the life ahead of us, but because we feel that our days of achievement in Albia High School are over. We are reluctant to go because we know that Albia High needs us to carry her through her battles. As we loolc baclc on our many achievements, it is with just pride that we note how our influence was felt by all. The prowess of our athletes has 'often brought victory to the Red and Blue in all branches of athletics, and the loss of the graduates will be a heavy blow to Albia High. Our achievements in dramatics and music were outstanding. Many seniors had their place in the band which was the best Albia High has ever lcnown. Some of our class members were also talented with vocal ability and contributed a very important part to all musical entertainments. And then we have never lost thought of the one great thing for which we are all hereg we have applied ourselves diligently to our books and have, after a fashion, wrestled from them a great deal of knowledge and wisdom as our list of names on the Honor Roll has testified. The many organizations gof which the seniors were a part were more successful this year than any other Albia High has ever witnessed. Some of our prominent class mem- bers were noted for their ability as leaders. There have been many magnificent, banquets given in the gmynasium of Albia High in the past years, but the one given by the class of '36 has far surpassed the rest in splendor and beauty. We feel that our presence, felt since the fall of '32, will be missed. Wfe feel that it will be hard to 511 the empty places that we leave, but we have hopes that in the dark, dim future, there may be another class that will, to some extent, fill them. As for the class of '36, we loolc forward to the future with glowing ambitions, for we lcnow that the future holds greater opportunity whereby we may distinguish ourselves. Our high school days are nearly o'er, The class of '36 will he here no more, But the achievements of this great band Will as an example, always stand. 21
