'I'o show that keeping a clean larm is essential, milk testing was included in the c11rric11lt1m. Soil conservation was taught, as was larm management, feeding and managing animals. crop and soil tilling and fertilization. 'l'he boys keep accurate records and larm ac- counts as part ol' the course on management. These were checked hy the instructors. Other very important sections ol' the training were a study ol' animals, home projects and crops grown on the individual larms. .-Xs a supplement to the vocational agricultttre course, the boys joined the lfuture lfartners ol' .'Xmerica, a national organization ol larm youth. Ylilllilllgll the FF.'X the hoys showed their skills with crop raising and animal showmanship at animal and crop shows. lhey won awards at the county and state lairs and at other local, state and national shows lor farm youth. Giving boys the practical experience that is necessary to lit them into their individual needs is the purpose ol' the shop classes. These shop classes are carried out in il pro- gram, starting in the seventh grade and working lllb through the grades. The program is geared to increase the studeut's knowledge and abilities in the lields covered hy each year's courses. 'l'h1- courses covered are widely varied.
