XVorking part ol' tlte day in school. they then journeyed to their places ol business. Valuable experience was accumulated by the student typists as they were taught the basic steps ol' setting up letters and memorandtuns. The typists strived lor speed and accuracy as they progressed in the knowledge ol' lamiliaril- ing themselves with the standard keyboard ol their machines by constant practice. Briel' forms, sounds and letters were taught to secretarial-mindecl pupils as they were tattght the main points of the art ol' stenography. Stu- dents aimed their sights on the goals ol' accuracy in the usage ol' strokes and speed ol' dictation. Second-year stenography students strived lor accuracy in the transcription ol' their short-hand notes.
