Spanish Student Council Norman Bailey Diversified Occupations Retail Selling English students study everything from spelling to letter writing and the classics. In grades seven and eight, literature, punctuation, letter writing, speech, library and grammar are emphasized. Senior high English classes try to promote better habits in both oral and written composition while the aim of speech class is developing self-confidence and poise in the student's social relations. All social studies classes study and analyze the cur- rent events in belief that better understanding will bring peace. American history is a required subject for all juniors. By learning about it, we better ap- preciate our glorious heritage. A course in world history is also offered. Civics classes study our world. Students also study the various types of government under which man has lived and still does. junior journalists spend the first semester in learn- ing how to publish the At-t LA HA SA and how to assume the responsibility of it. The seniors, mean- while, edit the paper and work on the yearbook. The second semester the juniors take over the paper, leav- ing the seniors to concentrate on the 'l'tctcR. There is also a junior high journalism class. To prepare for future jobs many students take a commercial course. Typists learn proficiency in the touch system. Stenography students master shorthand the first year with secretarial training the second.
