The pageant was presentecl to the high school stuclents in an assembly ancl an evening performance to the public. The social stuclies classes ol' the junior ancl senior high school, participatecl in the clramatilation of the important historical lacts ancl events leatling up to ancl through the Minnesota territorial settlement. Miss Miriam johnson was general chairman ancl Charles Malmer actecl as narrator. At the close of this color, ful presentation the auclience joined together in sings ing the state song, Minnesota. Hobo Day-the one day of the school year when you can skip school without a guilty conscienceg when you can dress as you please, hobo costumes preferred: when you can play yourself out until you just drop exhaust- ed to the ground, only to be picked up by your 21l lllS and legs by three or four muscle-bound males and forced to take a dip in the creek ..... For a change the weathernian granted us a hot sul- try day instead of the cool rainy one so typical in the middle ol May. At ll:00 sharp. the long awaited bell rang and everybody poured Olll ol' the building. Since no cars were allowed, buses provided the trans- portation for those who wished to ride. The ener- getic class hiked by way of the railroad tracks and highway IS, or peddled their bicycles. lt wasn't long before the Student Council had set up the coke and hotdog stand. l'eople's appetites were so ravenous that the luke-warm hotdogs, squashed sand- wiches and warm cokes were gulped down with very little effort on their part.
