FOREWORD One hundred years ago, the character- istics of a Southern gentleman were chi- valry and gallantry. Southern belles were noted for their wide sweeping hooped skirts, and the Southland as a whole was renowned for its beauty and charm. Now we of several generations later are proud of this, our Southern heritage. We hope that this 1952 annual will remind you of this heritage and will recall along with it your years and friends here in Albemarle High School.

MR. J. L. CASHWELL Mr. Cashwell has been principal of Albemarle High School for two years, during which time he has done much to make this a better school. He has made many friends due to his likable personality and friendly interest in all that happens around him. ADMINISTRATION MR. CLAUD GRIGG Mr. Grigg, recognized as one of the top educa- tors in the state, has been superintendent of this city school system for eighteen years. Through his never tiring efforts and service he has helped to make Albemarle High School one of the top schools in North Carolina.
