Bermuda consists of a group of nine large and approxi mately 356 small coral and limestone islands in the North Atlantic. Of the total island area of 21.3 miles, about 1.5 miles are owned and occupied by the British. One and one-tenth square miles were leased to the United States for 99 years in 1941 for the construction of bases. Currently, the United States has two bases in Bermuda: Kindley Ai r Force Base and the Naval Air Station. Bermuda has neither natural resources nor industries.
