Dr. Arthur Wardle A distinguished alumnus of the Albany College of Pharmacy died on September 5, 1960, at the Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson, New York, at the age of 81. Few men have contributed as much to the profession of Pharmacy and to Pharmaceutical education. Arthur Wardle was elected a member of the State Board of Pharmacy in 1908 and served several terms as its President. In 1914, he was appointed a member of the Board of Trustees of the College. In 1939, he was elected Presi- dent of that body, a post he held until his death. He was also a member of the Board of Governors of Union University. In 1949 he was awarded the honorary degree of Doctor of Laws by Union College. Dr. Wardle continued his service to the profession of pharmacy as a member of the American Pharmaceutical Association, an organization in which he was elected a life member. He also served state and local Pharmacy groups as a member and officer. Concurrent with his contributions to his profession, Dr. Wardle served his community for half a century. Among other things, he was Commissioner of Public Works for the City of Hudson and a member of the Board of Education. Few men have contributed so much to the profession of pharmacy. His record of service will stand as a rare example of what one man can accomplish for the advancement of his profession.
