SENIOR CLASS PROPiECY As I gaze into the crystal ball I foresee a great and marvelous future for the class of '53 As the blurred view clears I think I see that very intelligent genius yes, it is, John Holman John is writ ing his thesis for his Masters Degree and the future holds great prom ise for a successful career As the scene fades another takes its place, and I see Joe Cook who is now champion of the Hot Rod Racers with him is his mechanic, none other than Ja es Clubb, the biggest little man in our class There seems to be a bit of dust on y magic ball, now it's growing larger, it looks like why 1t's Lynn Boyer play Ing first base for the St Lolis Cardinals As I look closer I see his wlfe and children cheering from the bleachers Rubbing the ball, another picture appears, K S T C and Hazel Lee, a student there, is seen typing letters to a sailor or two Near by a sorority dance is being held and my eye catches a glimpse of two lovely debutantes that seem familiar They are Dorothy LeMaaters and Norma Jean Smith They waltz on by and out of sight, as a defence plant looms before me and I see Janice Betebenner, one of the best workers, escorting a Newspaper Editor on a tour through the buildings That editor is none other than Helen Watts and with her is her very efficient crime reporter, John Edwards Turning my sphere that sees all, I look to the North and Alaska where I see Betty Jo Vette before her home, a lovely little ice igloo Shivering, I gaze elsewhere and chance to see Betty Leggett, shopping for her trouseau She is a private secretary for a prominent young millionaire from New York In nearby Washington D C I notice Shirley Baker who is now a stenographer for the Department of the Navy But now the vision grows dim and hazy, a new apparition is beginning to take form A gleam and flurry of movement ah, it is the Ice Follies and in the midst of the skaters I see Mavis Bowers and Rosemarie Leggett Watching her friends' great performance is Dollie Minkler, a famous model Her clothing was designed in Paris by Treva Welch and made by Irene Conway Her hair stylist is Opal Pendergrass After the gayety of the city I long for a quiet country s ene, ma icly it comes, a tobacco farm in Kentucky where I see Peggy Petitte showing her souvenirs from the WAF to the milk man who is our old friend Tom Storm Tom has his own route and flirts with all the farmer's wives along the way By straining I can see Rio de Janerio where Jack Oliver is an ambassador, Hollywood where John Maples and Bob Gillum are co starring in a new movie, and a beautiful ranch owned by Ralph Gunlock Looking in on an Air Force base I see Carl Maples and Jim Lawrence which are both cooks in the mess hall Just now they are on their way to a wedding, a double military one The brides, both members of the WAF are Marilyn Miller and Valeria Flesher One last picture appears in my ball Bob Betebenner, Gary Storm, and Bob Williams still discus sing ways to avoid having to work for a living as they loaf on a street in Alba, Missouri with that I put the cover on my crystal ball and let the WClass of 'S3' go their ways unaware that their future was known to me long before graduation day - 1 A e A -- ' ., - o .
