As a feature of the music department this spring, members from the mixed chorus, orchestra, band, and a cappella choir joined together in presenting God's Trombones in the Heights School auditorium Tuesday night, February 24. God's Trombones is an adaptation by Fred Waring of poems by James Weldon Johnson and music of the traditional Negro spirituals into an impressive folk program. ln addition to God's Trombones, the a cappella group sang selections from Briga- doon, a musical being presented by the Alamogordo Music Theatre later in the spring. Four songs in the German language were presented on the program. Two were sung by Helgie Tarnowski, and the mixed chorus sang two. This was the chorus' first attempt at singing German.
