A new lecture room for biology has also been added. Very expensive equipment has been put in the new Physics lab. LEO CADENHEAD Math B.A., Howard Payne College The mathematics department of Alamogordo High School has been of the opinion that the best way to attract students into the department is to present a program that will fill all the needs of all the students who enter our school. Many new changes have been made in the curriculum. The mathematics department has approximately 70 per cent of the total student body enrolled in various areas during this school year. The department has taken a leading position within the state of New Mexico in introducing into its curriculum new and compre- hensive course in all areas. The department has been one of the leaders in introducing a course in combined geometry fplane and solidj into the high school curriculum in New Mexico and the nation. During the 1958-59 school year, the department will be using a text devised with the mathematics program of A.H.S. A A new course, designated as Algebra 5, has also been. added for high school seniors in their last semester. It consists of and introduction to college mathematics. The department is planning-L other changes to meet the changing needs of its students. The de- partment thinks that the challenge of the future can be ,met by challenging the students of today. MR.
